Many Dermatologists in the Nation Capital Region are active in clinical research in the fields of contact dermatitis, melanoma, and non-melanoma skin cancer, psoriasis, medical dermatology and clinical drug trials.
Dr. Jennifer Beecker is the Research Director and a Clinical Investigator in the Clinical Epidemiology Program. She conducts and supervises many research studies, and has multiple publications in the medical literature. She has established a Pigmented Lesion Clinic to provide service, education, and research into the early diagnosis of malignant melanoma.
Dr. Glassman performs clinical research in the fields of medical dermatology and photobiology. He is Medical Director of the phototherapy clinics at The Civic Hospital and Elisabeth Bruyere.
Dr. Mark Kirchhof is currently conducting research into the effects of cannabis on dermatologic conditions as well as studies involving eczema, skin cancer, rosacea and tanning behavior.
Dr. Melanie Pratt has special interest and expertise in Contact Dermatitis. She belongs to the International Contact Research Group and the North American Contact Dermatitis Group. These research groups are interested in the education and promotion of Contact Dermatitis and collect data and collaborate on multiple projects that are published.
